Although we can probably all agree that it’s great to get out and enjoy some adult time out on the town, we all know that sometimes we just have to factor our kids into the equation. Ohh those angelic kids…
Don’t worry, Room To Escape could be just what you and the kids need! And with some careful and creative planning, you can be sure that your escape game experience is fun and exciting for everyone involved - especially the kids! Just consider these four critical tips for bringing your kids along to play an escape game and the entire family will be all set!
1. Make sure everybody eats before the game. This is important for everybody for several reasons. First of all, going into the game with a full stomach will allow your mind to stay focused on the game instead of a hungry, rumbling stomach. Second of all, people tend to get irritable and cranky when they’re hungry, and if you’ve ever experienced an escape game before, you know that it is no place for mood swings and crankiness!
2. Make the kids go potty beforehand! Although we will certainly let guests out to use the bathroom if it is an emergency, we highly recommend using the facility’s bathrooms before the start of the game, in order to get the most out of your time. Don’t forget, you only have one hour so solve the puzzle and the clock keeps ticking no matter what!
3. Check their pockets periodically. Keep in mind that kids love their pockets! They may find a clue and stick it in their pocket along with the candy wrappers and action figures that are already in there from earlier. Make sure you are keeping track of all of the clues that are found and be sure to check little pockets and hands every once in awhile. It may even be a good idea to have a designated space in the middle of the room for everybody’s discovered clues.
4. Relax and let them have fun! Don’t worry, we understand that kids will be kids and we are firm believers that escape games are supposed to be fun for everybody! It’s okay to let your kids run wild and start searching for clues as soon as they enter. It’s even okay to let them make a mess. In fact, they may actually be better at the game than some adults are! After all, kids typically aren’t afraid to get down on their hands and knees or crawl underneath a table like some adults may be.
We certainly hope that considering these four tips will help you and put you at ease when planning your next escape room adventure. We cannot wait to see you and the whole family at Room To Escape! Use the coupon and the link below to book your next adventure!
**Disclaimer: We recommend our games for ages 12 and up. We frequently have families come in with one or two younger children and they have a great time. However, the games were originally designed for people 12 and up. Players that are 14 and under must be accompanied by a paying adult.
